Rae

Rae interface

Rae /ré/ verb • A bright, musical, and motionful reverb.

Rae is an expressive, experimental reverb where source and mic can be positioned within a custom-shaped room, and every parameter can be modulated via path modulators.

Shape the reverb space

Rae models how a sound object casts rays, and how they reflect between the walls of a space. By fine tuning the source and mic positions, and the geometry of the room, minute aspects of the sound can be controlled, allowing it to sit perfectly into the mix.

From detailed to experimental

The controls of Rae were designed to balance fine control with immediacy, allowing the sound to get bright, gritty, and sometimes weird. Sculpt the tail with a flexible damping filter, warmth and diffusion.

Special parameters have a wide range that can push the reverb into strange and expressive territory. Combine input speed changes with feedback to create a shimmer. Lower the rate to mimic older verbs or achieve a lofi sound. You can also freeze the tail and continue to explore the frozen sound on the map.

A reverb with movement

We built Rae as a reverb with movement at its core: 4 customisable path modulators, each assignable to the source and mic, or as a 1D projection to any of the reverb parameters. Use them as envelope followers or oscillators, and stack them to derive complex shapes.
